During the week of March 30, TDK SensEI CEO Sandeep Pandya spent time with members of our Japan team for open and thoughtful discussions on the Japanese market, direct customer feedback, and how our solutions can address real-world customer challenges. With March marking graduation season and April symbolizing new beginnings in Japan, we captured this meaningful moment together under the cherry blossoms—reflecting on the path ahead and embracing a fresh start.

Impacting Efficiency, Quality and Sales with edgeRX™ Vision

A leading manufacturer faced a critical challenge in high‑speed production operations: maintaining strict quality control without sacrificing production efficiency.
The existing AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) system generated a high volume of false alarms, driving frequent downtime and heavy reliance on operator intervention to restart machines. This dependency increased the risk of human error and made it difficult to scale throughput without raising quality concerns. As a result, the operation experienced a baseline loss of millions of units per month, translating to hundreds of thousands of dollars in missed sales.

TDK SensEI deployed edgeRX™ Vision as a proof of concept, introducing a bolt‑on enhancement that integrates seamlessly with existing inspection cameras and equipment—TDK SensEI deployed edgeRX™ Vision, introducing a powerful AI CV system that integrates with existing AOI systems.
Rather than replacing legacy systems, edgeRX™ Vision adds an intelligent decision layer that autonomously evaluates inspection results, reduces false stops, and enables faster machine restarts. A multi‑stage decision pipeline filters noise, identifies true defects, and establishes a digital safety net by archiving defect images and limiting risky manual overrides—helping address frequent downtime and the heavy reliance on operators to restart machines.
The initial deployment yielded immediate and measurable results. edgeRX™ Vision demonstrated the ability to significantly reduce false stops, accelerate restart times from minutes to seconds, and maintain high defect detection accuracy. Based on these outcomes, the solution is projected to recover millions of units per month, which equates to hundreds of thousands of dollars in potential monthly sales, with meaningful upside as deployment scales across additional lines.
Beyond performance metrics, the solution is expected to reduce operator burden, minimize fatigue, and strengthen confidence in inspection reliability—while supporting consistent production speed and quality.

By resolving the longstanding trade‑off between efficiency and quality, edgeRX™ Vision at commercial scale will recover a significant number of units—driving a substantial increase in sales.

15th China Smart Manufacturing Summit

We’re excited to share that TDK SensEI won the Outstanding and Recommended Product and the Industrial Technology, Innovation, and Pioneer awards at Beijing’s 15th smart manufacturing summit. TDK SensEI was able to achieve these successes thanks to our product achieving 25% reduction in O&M costs and a 10-20% equipment uptime.

Manufacturing-world Week Nagoya

April 8–10, 2026

Manufacturing World Nagoya 2026 brought together approximately 630 exhibitors showcasing the latest technologies across IT and digital transformation (DX), mechanical components, factory equipment, and measurement solutions—all focused on accelerating R&D and production, reducing costs, improving energy efficiency, and advancing factory automation.
The event welcomed around 30,000 visitors from across Japan’s manufacturing ecosystem, including professionals from development, manufacturing, production engineering, purchasing, and information systems—making it a key gathering point for innovation in Japan’s Central region.
